Luckily for me, there was a brutal windstorm last night, power is out at work, and there’s a fallen tree across my driveway, so I don’t have to go anywhere anyway.

Sucks that dumb ol’ leap year is stealing a Friday Halloween from us. Rude.

Yeah but what he’s saying is on a Friday most people are off for the weekend and have time to trick or treat and get candy.

Nah it’s on Oct 31st and frankly I don’t give a shit about changing your mind. This is coming from a parent of kids who does this every year.

HALLOWEEN IS ON OCT 31ST. NOT OCT 30, NOT NOV 1 OR 2. FIGHT ME.

Edit: Im a mom of 3 boys, Im exhaused today and it was rainy and chilly and my husband accidentally locked us out of the house when we got home. Would still not have changed the day.

The date matters if your child has a Halloween birthday. My little girl loves the fact that she can go door to door to get candy then come back for cake a presents. 🤘🏻

>>implying most parents have jobs where they don’t work on weekends.

You can go tick or treating whenever you want, but I’m only giving out candy on October 31st from 6-9pm. If you ring my door expecting free candy any other time you will not get any.

I’m confused

Does walking around for 2 hours from 8pm to 10pm really “exhaust” parents?

What exactly is so tiring about Halloween for parents?

My old home town in north Texas always has it the Saturday before Halloween and I never liked it. Where I live now in the Texas Hill Country, they always have it on the actual day and I think its cool.

You want free candy? You go out on a school night in the rain and you *earn* that shit.

Don’t be a bitch. Nobody wants to hear that pussy shit about you being all tired the next day. This is some snowflake bullshit.

Halloween wasn’t originally about dressing up and getting candy…that’s why it’s on a set date.
Just like Christmas is on a set date…

And this way when

In Chicago, the publics schools have been closed for 10 days because of the teachers strike. Kids had no school until Halloween and then the strike broke and they all had to go to school today.

That’s just fuckin cruel messing with their heads like that.

There was actually a great discussion on HLN that Halloween should try and be celebrated on the last Saturday of October. This way “most” people don’t have to fight to get home during the business week and would allow more time to prepare for kids to trick or treat. This would also help increase overall safety for all going out.

Actually kind of like when it’s on a weeknight, I’ve consistently lived in areas where the drunks get numerous and dangerous on Halloween, I’d prefer there be fewer and less rowdy drunks on Halloween, especially since kids are walking around neighborhoods and I’d rather they not get struck down by some 30-something in a cat costume who can’t hold their liquor.

Halloween is technically celebrating the Eve of All Saints Day which is always November 1st. So it doesn’t make sense to change it. It’s like changing Christmas eve to some random week day then having Christmas Day on December 25

Realize that not everyone follows a standard 9-5 M-F work schedule. Either way, plan better or don’t celebrate it
