he never bought a second of time. he had a finite number of seconds and then he died. he DID buy the opportunity to use some of his seconds to see his father, though.

And this works even more because its chronologically a 2nd time as well, where in other time travel movies they would be undoing the first time so technically THEIR 2nd time would be the chronological first time
