At this point they are refusing to acknowledge that congress has any authority.

If they succeed then our government is irreparably damaged. The executive and judicial branches would be blatantly violating the constitution to suppress powers it grants to the legislative branch. That’s a Pandora’s box no one will be able to close, even if they were willing to. It would tear the country apart.

If they fail then Barr goes to prison. Trump doesn’t have the authority to protect him from this. Nixon’s AG went to prison… Nixon didn’t.

I can’t even fathom how he Barr thinks either of these are good outcomes, or how he could think Trump would protect him even if he could. Trump throws his minions under the bus almost daily. Just watch what’s about to happen to Rudy.

I fully expect the official catchphrase of the RNC to be “It is what it is” with a shrug emoji by next week.

They need to formalize the impeachment proceedings for the subpoenas to have legal weight, as it is they are more like polite requests to be interviewed… Id love to see some real action taken on this but the dems don’t seem to wanna commit

You can dislike and downvote this contention to whatever extent necessary to make you feel better, but this a **false equivalency**.

Manning’s subpoena is from a grand jury (Article III) and Barr’s subpoena is from Congress (Article I).

Most importantly, Barr **is** part of a co-equal branch of government, which is why he is asserting executive privilege. Manning **is not** part of a co-equal branch of government, so *she* does not have the same liberty nor power to avert a subpoena.

**Objectively** speaking, to treat both scenarios as alike is obtuse and silly.

Unless Barr used to be a judge, this is untrue.

There is a difference in legalities between the subpeonas. Since the “Impeachment inquiry” was never approved by a House vote the “Subpeonas” are simply strongly worded requests that can’t be enforced. If they WERE enforcable there would be no need to add verbage like, “failure to comply will be seen as obstruction” when there can’t BE obstruction without an officially sanctioned inquiry. It’s all theatrics and literally anyone who understands political law regardless of their party affiliation knows this.

In reality, it was federal judge Anthony Trenga who ordered Manning to be re-incarcerated in May 2019, after she refused to testify to a grand jury in connection with an investigation into the classified media disclosure site Wikileaks.

Honestly how has he not been jailed? How have ANY of the random non-presidents not been jailed!? Why is the attorney general protecting a corrupt dictator when he is supposed to be a bastion of justice that can call into question individuals of authority?

Oh right, trump picked him. If I know anything about this shit show of a presidency, trump probably has some horrifying dirt on the AG, and is holding it over Barr’s head to make him do his bidding.

At this point I blame the democrats for not enforcing the subpoenas and sending in the Sargent of Arms.

I mean guys like Giuliani who weren’t even part of the administration are blowing off subpoenas and nothing is happening to them.

Because there isn’t an actual, legal impeachment proceeding (the “inquery” isnt a legal proceeding) their isn’t a real subpoena but it’s more like a professional request is what I read. Is this correct?
