Banned from school? I used to love some of these things and I wasn’t even banned from school, these were just toys that kids loved in general.

My school was pretty laid back, like, we played poker one day and no one cared, and this was in elementary school

Aren’t those mini pencil sharpeners that came with Crayola pencils still banned? I remember my 2nd grade teacher rummaging through my desk and confiscating mine…

Don’t forget Harry Potter! Bizarrely enough, growing up in a small rural Bible Belt community, it wasn’t banned in my elementary school. Mind you, it was scandalous to not go to church in this town. I think parents were just happy kids were reading big books. Order of the Phoenix is a massive, complex book compared to the Magic Treehouse books that were also popular.

1999, 3rd grade. Pokémon was the only thing I can strongly remember being banned from my elementary school. The school got tired of kids just sitting around playing cards and wanted us to be more active at recess. Then stealing of cards started happening and they put down a crackdown. I remember that was when the fad just vanished. It from the big deal to everyone just gave up on it overnight.

What school did you go to? Cause I brought my Webkinz to school almost every day when I was in Kindergarten.

Gum is often banned because kids leave wads of used gum everywhere. Adults sometimes do the same, which is disgusting. I hate getting it on my shoes.

God, they really hated kids having fun back then. I’m still feeling the echoes of this decades later.

I remember when silly bands got banned in 3rd grade. I remember this kid kept complaining someone stole his fav silly band. It was me. You shouldn’t have called me a poopy head on the playground Zach. Fuck you.

They banned Pokémon cards because they didn’t want to deal with kids stealing and trading them with each other

In 5th grade I brought a gravity knife to school and my teacher didn’t care.
The week after I brought my binder of Pokémon cards and I got 3 days of detention.
The next month I brought my Game Boy with Pokémon Red and while fighting Zubats in the cave my teacher caught me and called me parents to pick me up early.
My dad was so salty that he threw my Game Boy against the wall.

A few years I found out that my teacher had passed away but I died the moment my Game Boy hit that wall.

Why would the American Girl book get banned from a school? It was just information about the physical and emotional changes that happen during puberty, presented in a kid-friendly way.

Don’t forget those “ancient Chinese proverb” shirts that when turned sideways actually says “fuck this shit”…. Oh, and the “make 7 up yours” shirts….. Maybe this was more 90’s than 00’s

Heelies!!! DEFINITELY the most banned thing in my high school. The freshman were always running into people on them and the principles had ENOUGH! We used to call this one kid “Gumby”

My elementary school banned pokemon and yugioh cards because kids were getting ripped off with trades/stealing cards. So we had to be sneaky with playing and trading at school as if we were dealing drugs.
