>he’s decently in shape but somehow has a stomach pooch

Poor diet and booze, that’s the secret.

For me it was middle school but yeah this guy really fucked me up, he would bully non-jocks to the point of tears literally every single day and was a huge creep to girls. Straight up this guy basically kickstarted my panic disorder. 1000% on point with everything

The one teacher I had that was also a football coach was actually stricter with his players than normal students. Like my friends and I would be talking, throwing stuff at each other, hitting each other, and blatantly cheating on tests. Never said anything to us about our behavior except the time a janitor complained about crumpled pieces of paper on the floor. Whenever the football player, Omar, would even just begin to whisper, the teacher would stop his lecturing just to tell this kid to shut up.

I think it’s because he cared more about the football players, therefore he had higher expectations for them. However, in retrospect, I still can’t believe this dude let my friends and I get away with murder.

We had a wrestling coach who was forced to become an earth science teacher. Loved to super loose fit mesh athletic shorts…………..but uh…not sure if he liked underwear…and was very fond of doing stretches using his table.

Haha, we had three versions of this guy from the same family. Senior Hochman, who taught freshman gym, freshman biology??, football and wrestling, Big Hochman, who also taught gym somehow, and coached football, and Little Hochman, who was the smartest and youngest. He just taught Latin.
I had a Strength and Conditioning class with Big Hochman. He was concerned about a girl using the weights, so I had to have a “Buddy” workout with me. When I asked Big Hochman if we would do any cardio workouts, he replied, “Uh, I dunno. Walk around the gym a few laps maybe”. Nice enough guys though.

Most places in the US require coaches to also be teachers to get the job.

Honestly I don’t have a problem with them incorporating sports into what they teach. I feel like it’s a way of keeping it interesting for themselves so that they don’t seem bored in class

My AP Chem teacher was also one of the football coaches, but he was an actual chemist. That and I’m pretty sure he could have killed me with his bare hands.

Oh man, I took a sociology class in high school, it was taught by a coach and all we did was copy from the textbook. He showed sports movies as often as he could, justifying it by saying that they’re not about sports, they’re about life. He was nice, though. But that class was a big waste of time…

At my high school, students who were part of the Band or Robotics classes got grouped together for Phys Ed. That year was probably the best year for me Phys Ed wise since the class was full of nerds and geeks who were also not as athletic like me.

Oddly enough the Phys Ed teacher we had was super supportive of us and my physical health improved a lot during that time since our teacher took a different approach with us (**because we were nerds**) unlike the other classes.

Another year my Social Studies teacher was the stupidly buff gym teacher and he was really good at teaching. Man had tattoos and dreads and a bigass meter stick he would wave around. At the beginning of every class he would casually quiz us (he’d call on us randomly and we give an answer in front of the class) on stuff that we learned the class before. And all of us studied before hand cause we were scared shitless of him and didn’t want to get the questions wrong.

He taught in Japan first and met his wife there and then he had an adorable son during the time he taught me. He was basically a big teddy bear and all the students know that but because he was so huge we couldn’t help and be scared shitless by him.

I think he browses Reddit sometimes so Mr B if you’re reading this, thanks for having a good impact on me.
