I do the same thing, yet I get through security in 30 minutes or less every time.

This! I have a flight at 5:55 pm and I get off at 4. I’m freaking out and thinking I should take a half hour lunch and leave at 3:30.

I depart to airport 3 hours before the flight. My house was close enough and it was small town so no traffic jam. Somehow I was the last passenger to board. The flight left earlier from the schedule.

After that I’d rather spend the whole day in the airport than running from the check in counter to the plane.

Global Entry, TSA Precheck, & Clear… never spend more than 5 min in security.

Once, my husband and I got to the airport the recommended 3 hours before our flight. After checking in, we realized our calendar had screwed up the time zones, so we were 3 hours even earlier than we thought. Then the airline delayed our flight by 6 hours. That was one of the longest and most boring days in my life.

Same here, though I’m getting better.

I’d say two hours is safe. Security is unpredictable.

I almost got prevented from boarding my flight to Germany back in March because I arrived less than an hour prior to the flight beginning to board. Kiosk wouldn’t print my ticket, so I went to talk to a lady at the counter in order to get it, and she told me I wouldn’t be able to board because it was too late or something.

Luckily, I had no bags to check, I had a carry-on only, and I had already checked in online, so she went ahead and printed my pass. I made it on time, but man, that was scary.

I learned it from my father, and he learned it from his father. I’m currently teaching it to my male heirs.

It’s the best damn excuse to sit down with a couple overpriced gin-and-tonics and just enjoy an hour or two with a book.
